2019, June: Museum purchases unknown painting

The Joslyn Art Museum, Omaha, Nebraska, has been able to add an exceptionally cool painting by Maria van Oosterwijck to his collection. It is a rather large work that had been in private ownership for generations and therefore withdrawn from public knowledge. A photo of this painting and the description thereof are now included in Oeuvre / flower still lifes: bouquets, under number 4Ba.

2014, December 3:

Auction Christie's Londen: the bouquet, listed on these website as B11, is sold. The result: sold for 170,500 Eng P (218,600 Euro's). The description of this flowerpiece is renewed.

2013, March 16:

During the TEFAF Maastricht Xaver Scheidwimer Gallery presents a superb bouquet, made by Maria van Oosterwijck. The painting is never showed to the public. This painting is probably mentioned in a notarial document, written in January 1678. The document tells that Maria the painting delivered to artdealer Lidel with the mandate to bring the painting to Vienna to sell it. More information you can find on page Bouquets, work B3a.

2012, December 4:

Auction Christie's London:  Vanitas painting the "Sunflower and jewel box" (see Vanitas 2 on this website).

Also, the description of Vanitas 2 is updated and supplemented.

2011, December 26:

Auction Sotheby's New York: the painting of Maria van Oosterwijck, listed on these website as Bouquet B18 is sold: price, including buyer premium, 98,500 US dollars ( Euro's: 67,825).

2011, January 26:

Auction Sotheby's New York: the painting of Maria van Oosterwijck "Still Life of Roses, Carnations, Marigolds and Other Flowers with a Sunflower and Striped Grass, in a Glass Vase with a Knife and String upon a Marble Table", listed on these website as Bouquet B3. The painting is sold: price, including buyer premium, 1,426,500 US dollars ( Euro's: 1.035.965). This is the highest amount ever paid for a painting made by Maria vanOosterwijck.

I gave a presentation concerning Maria van Oosterwijck in the Prinsenhof Museum in Delft for the Association of Friends of the Prinsenhof Museum.

2010, September:

Laurentia McIntosh Cincoski (Faculty of Art History at the University of Wisconsin – Stout) has successfully defended (with clean credit) her dissertation "Maria vanOosterwijck, The Life and Works of a 17th Century Dutch Artist". Her doctoral degree is awarded in December 2010.
